Massive nyc haul! Part 1: Beauty

So I just came back from nyc and of course done way to much shopping. My name is Katie and I'm a shopaholic. No seriously though I need to go I a no buy for the next year now. Anyway on with the haul/ mini review since I had time to use these products quite a bit now. Ill show you them in brands. Up first is mac!

So as you can see I bought 3 empty palettes and mostly filled them up. One color eyeshadow and one neutral and a blush/bronzer palette. I also bought two lip pencils in magenta and nightmoth, 217 brush, face and body in c1, strobe cream, 4 airbrush colors, msf natural in light and 7 lippies. (From left to right) please me,rebel, heroine, chatterbox,Japanese mapel, goddess of the sea, and viva glam rihanna. In love with every single thing I have tried from mac yet. Haven't tried the airbrush makeup yet so I hope it's going to live up to my expectations

For the rest of the brands I only bought one or two items. I didn't go as crazy as I did at mac.

For ysl I bought le teint touché eclate in the shade   And I bought another rouge volupte in shade 13 peach passion because I am obsessed with these lippies. I'm going to pretend it's not just because of the packaging.

I heard way to many good things about this powder foundation for me not to try it. And it is amazing. I love using this over a bb or cc cream to give a filler coverage. The brush is a must have for the foudation.

Love all the chanel foundations I've tried so far and this is no exception it feels so light on yet still giving a decent amount I coverage. And this lippie is beautiful. Stays on for ages!

As you can probably see I'm absolutely crazy over my foundations! This one is beautiful. The finish is what won me over on this one. It's not dewy but not matte but makes you look luminous but not oily. I don't know how they do it but it's awesome and the lippie is also gorgeous!

From Inglot I built a freedom palette. You can't really see the true colors here. The one to the left is a pretty cranberry color with shimmer then it's a deep plum with shimmer and nice almost light taupe with shimmer and then there's a matte taupe and a light pink with shimmer. I also picked up the gel liner and I can tell you it's the blackest black I have ever seen. And soo creamy! Love it!

Nars sheer glow and exhibit a. What else can I say that haven't been said before. The foundation is beautiful and nars blushes are one of the best brands of blush I have ever tried!

These are the things that I only picked up one thing from some brands. I finally got the two faced chocolate bar palette. It smells just like chocolate! Glam glow clearing face mask! (Aka magic in a bottle) Kevyn accuin sensual skin enchancer, Anastasia dipbrow pomade in dark brow, illamasqua cream pigment in hollow I am so in love with this. It's probably my favorite purchase of the entire trip. It's the best cream contour I've ever used! And hourglass ambient lighting blush in radiant magenta.

I also headed to alcone co to get some fx supplies but they were sold out of a lot of things that I wanted to I settled for the skin illustrator fx palette. Haven't used it yet but cannot wait to play with it!

How I Fill In My Brows

If there's only one thing I can do before I leave my house it has to be my brows! I have very sparse brows so filling them in is a must! So if you would like to know how to fill in your brows if you also have sparse brows keep on reading!

So these are my brows before, as you can see I'm lacking in the brow department.

So what you'll need is an eyebrow powder. I actually use an eyeshadow I use macs mystery it the perfect color for me and it's not to warm! I hate brow powder that make your brows look reddish! Second you'll need an eyebrow pen I love stilas stay all day waterproof eyebrow pen and lastly you'll need an eyebrow gel to lock everything in lately I've been loving benefits gimme brow in medium dark.

What I do to start filling in my brows is outline the brow shape I want. This can be tricky. Just take your time to get it right.

After that is done I finish filling in the center. Now you can stop here if you like. I normally only use the powder if I'm rushed for time. But if you want your brows to stay all day and look as natural as possible them continue reading.

After filling in your brows with the powder use your pen to create hair like strokes. Have a light hand for this you don't want to press to hard and have the liquid run everywhere! And do over do this part just use it in places where you don't have many hairs and where you need to break up the one color of the powder.

Last step! Take your brow gel and run it through your brows to set everything!

Optional step! You can take a concealer and draw around your brows to make them look crisp and clean if you want. I personally don't like doing this. I rather a more natural look to my brows!

Today I just done a simple look using these products.

FOUNDATION
I'm trying out a new foundation and loving it so far. I can't believe I've never heard anything about it before! It's the hard candy just face it one step foundation. It's a very thick formula however it feels like you don't have anything on your face. Ill post a review when I'm finish testing it out.

CONCEALER
benefits erase paste and maybelline dream lumi under the eye and makeup forever full cover concealer on blemishes that the foundation didn't cover. These three are my go to everyday concealers.

PODWER
revlons nearly naked to set everything in place. Love the natural skin like finish this gives.

HIGHLIGHTER
nars albatross across my cheekbones just to give a glow and some life to my face since I didn't use blush or bronzer.

BROWS
mac mystery to fill them in, drew individual brow hairs on with stila stay all day brow pen then set everything in place with benefits gimme brow.

EYESHADOW
I used macs paint pot in painterly as a base then used urban decay naked basics palette in Venus, w.o.s. And naked 2 for a soft natural eye.

EYELINER

I used urban decay electric palette in the shade fringe along with some fix + from mac as eyeliner then smudged the outer v with the same color.

MASCARA
maybelline the rocket. For a natural look. Normally I use 2 or 3 mascaras or some false lashes.

LIPS
YSL rouge volupte #29

Here's the finished look

UD ELECTRIC

REVIEW: URBAN DECAY ELECTRIC PRESSED PIGMENT PALETTE

I just recently got my hands on the palette and I've been playing with it for the past couple days. All I can say is wow! It is amazing!

First of all the packaging is gorg! I'm going to pretend that's not the reason I was drawn to it but I can't lie, but when I swatched those colors I was blown away with the pigmentation and the smoothness that the pigments had! They are a dream to blend and work with, very buildable!

Here are the swatches I done of each color, there is no primer under these colors, just swatched over my skin. (Sorry about the messy swatches I'm not very good at that yet lol!)

Top (from left to right): Revolt, Gonzo, Slowburn, Savage, Fringe
Bottom (from left to right): Chaos, Jilted, Urban, Freak, Thrash

There is a warning on the back.
(Warning: Slowburn, Savage, Jilted, and Urban are not intended for use around the immediate eye area.)

While most people think this is an eyeshadow palette and are confused as to why 4/10 shades aren't intended for use around the eye area, all I have to say is that this is a pressed pigment palette and can be used for whatever your imagination can think over. I use this for eyeshadow, blush, patted over lipstick for a matte look, eyeliner, in your hair, etc. I'm loving Slowburn and savage as blushes but beware you need a VERY light hand or you'll look more like a clown!

I have very little negative comments on this palette, other then the fact that if you do not use primer on your eyes (or at least my eyes) the colors wear off in the crease after about 4 hours. But an eye primer is a must for me anyway! Other then that I think that if you love bright bold colors you won't be dissapointed, I 100% recommend this palette!

Products I Regret Buying!

These are my top 10 products that I regret buying! In no perticular order.

1.
Wet n wild color icon in reserve your cabana. This is suppose to be a bronzer but even on me this looks more like a highlighter. I'm not complaining about that because I love me some highlighters! But the pigmentation is horrible. Hardly any color payoff and I need to use so much to get even a glow then I look like a cake face. Sorry wet n wild I love your lipsticks and blushes but this just did not do it for me.

2.
I know everyone loves this and I did try it and loved it BUT it's soo dark! Why is there's only a limited shade range (I think only one or two shades!)

3.
Sorry garnier this also didn't do it for me. The color selection isn't good. This is to dark but is workable because of its sheerness but this is the only product I have ever tried that has broke me out. And not just once I have tried this multiple times hoping it was something else but nope every time I wear it I get the worst breakouts :(

4.
The only reason this made the list is because of its crazy high price along with the fact that I simply don't use it enough to justify the price. Yes it's good but would I rater have my $80 back instead of this? Yes!

5.
Again with the crappy color range. I truly think this foundation would be lovely if it had a color that suited me. The only reason I haven't thrown this out is because I'm hoping I get extra tan this summer so then I can make use of this. This also has shimmer in it so if you don't like visible shimmer this ones not for you.

6.
My first and last covergirl lipstick. Not thinking about the aweful color right now but the lipstick Itself smudged so easy and faded in no time! Now the color on the other hand is horrible! It's soo metallic it accents every line just don't do it!

7.
The maybelline master due eye studio liquid liner. I was so excited to get this I thought the color would be vibrant and perfect for that pop of color liner but it was so disapointing it was watery streaky  and the color was nothing like the sticker, it certainly wasn't glossy and deffinatly was not a glossy teal!

8.
I was really thinking I was going to love this because their other products I've tried are very lovely, however this just didn't do it for me. The coverage wasn't there and it felt kind of slippery on my skin. It creased almost immediately after application.

9.
I bought this because it looked similar to my beloved Bobbie brown shimmer bricks so I decided to give it a go. It is nothing like the shimmer bricks it's chalky and has chunky glitter particles not finely milled shimmer. It doesn't give a nice glow to your skin, it just looks very cheap. Not worth even worth $1 and I paid almost $12!

10.
This may come as a shock to some people because I know a lot of people who love this. It's not a bad palette it's just that I never reach for it. It's one of those palettes that just doesn't have that wow factor to it that would make me reach for it often. I do use it and I do like the looks but I also think the more colorful shades all look the same on the eye when blended. They kind of all blend into a darken blackish shade unless it's put over a base of that color.

Product Review

Today I decided to review some concealers that I have recently purchased. I know they have a lot of hype around them on Instagram but incase you haven't heard of them then they are the L.A. Girl Pro conceal HD concealer. And this is what these guys look like.

The five shades that I picked up, as you can see above are classic ivory, warm sand, medium beige, toffee an dark coca.

So first ill just take about the shades. Classic ivory is very pink toned so it would be perfect for those with a very pink undertone but for everybody else you can certainly use it as an undereye corrector. That's the way I use it and it covers very well. (Maybe not as well as erase paste or Bobbie brown corrector, but for only $1.99 a piece you can't really go wrong!) The shade warm sand I find to pink and to dark for me to use but person of darker skin time can use this the way I use classic ivory. Medium beige and toffe look different in the tube but when swatched (photo below) they look very similar. I use these for cream contouring but people of a darker skin tone can use this as a concealer for blemishes because these do have a decent amount of coverage. And lastly is dark cocoa. This is way to dark for me to use, even to contour but again people of a darker skin tone them me can use this as a cream contour.

As for the shade range they do have a fairly good selection for a drugstore brand however I couldn't find a shade that I could use for concealing blemishes. The lightest shades were too pink.

The texture of these are very nice and creamy and pigmentated and they will last all day! Can't stress how long they last! You can somewhat tell from the picture below that these do not come off easy! After about 3 minutes I tried to wash these off with soap and water and this was the result!

The one bad thing I have to say about these and really it's only one shade I'm referring to (I don't know if I have a faulty one or not) it leaks a lot of clear fluid and sometimes it sprays out while I'm trying to squeeze the product out. Which make a complete mess.

As you can clearly see in the photo above that there is clearly some clear fluid leaking and that the product sprayed  onto the surrounding area. What you can't see is the amount of liquid that came out it shocked me. This seams to happen whenever I go to open this one. I shake before use but same result.

Other then the leakage these products seem well worth their small price tag. How can you pass up $1.99 products that are actually good?!

Fx makeup

I just finished up some fx makeup so I figured why not do a post on it and telling how I done it and what products I used.

So this is that I done. I used make up forever flash palette along with Ben nye bruise wheel to stipple on the bruiseing and redness then went in with 3rd degree, which is a silicone modeling compound to sculpt out the cut on the the nose and check then when it set up I filled in the cuts with colors from the previously mentioned products. For the mouth and nose bleed I only used ben nye thick blood and a bit of red greese paint. Back to the cuts lastly I used thick blood along with some more liquid blood to put inside and let it drop down. To finish off the fight makeup I used water to mess up my eye makeup because of course if you get into a fight your makeup is not going to look good!

Here are photos of the products used.

Spring Makeup Trends

So as it is the first day I spring I couldn't think of a better time then to do a post on spring makeup trends this year!

BASE

For the perfect base that's on trend this season go for natural glowy skin which I love anyway! Start with Guerlain's meteorites primer which feels amazing and leaves a glow to your skin. If you have perfect skin you can stop here! But if your like me then go ahead and use clinique's cc cream, it's amazing and has a high spf for the warmer temperatures! Then just dab a bit of benefits high beam on the high points of your face and finish with macs fix+!

CHEEKS

Berry and plum cheeks are in this season and these two and my favs! There are tons of drugstore as well as high end options for everyone! Maybellines master glaze in pink fever goes on so natural and leaves the perfect flush of color. Estee lauders pure color blush in audacious plum is the perfect plum blush! It leaves a natural flush that is very unique. I have nothing like it in my collection! It looks different in person, on this picture it doesn't look overly unique.

BROWS

The arch is out and thick natural brows are in! If you have thick brows your lucky! I have very thin sparse brows, due to over plucking in my early teens. But if your like me and needs to fake a thick brow don't worry these products look very natural and no one will ever know the difference! I use macs mystery eyeshadow to fill in my brows the use stilas stay all day waterproof brow color to fill in those sparse areas to mimic brow hairs then set it all in place with benefits gimme brow and we're done!

EYES

Accordly to the runway bright blue and pastal eyeshadows are in for spring! My favorite blue shadow is rimmels scandal eyes shadow stick in 009 blamed blue. Not only is this a gorgeous color, it's a 24 hour waterproof formula so it's gonna last and not crease on you! And for your pastels my favorite cream shadows are two from maybelline they are the color tattoos in edgy emerald and inked in pink these are also going to last on you all day and not crease. And for a powder shadow I have to give it to lancomes color design palette in mint jolie. Love the pretty pastal colors and the pigmentation is amazing! As for eyeliner a strong cat eye is on trend and going along with the spring colors I had to choose lancomes art liner I think mine is in turquoise. There isn't a name on it and I couldn't find one online. Not sure if this color was limited edition or not. Sorry guys!

LIPS

Orange is the color on trend again this year which is great because I love myself an orange lip! These are five great orange lip colors that I believe would suit anyone no matter what skin color or age! For a sheer orange I love maybelline color whisper in coral ambition. For a stain I like the revlon just bitten stain in rendezvous it's very bright and the color lasts! For you matte lovers I have revlons matte balm in audacious that is more on the red orange side. Revlon color burst in peach is also beautiful, sorry I know they are discontinued but I had to mention this beauty. And last but not least is also revlons coralberry beautiful coral color! Sorry there was so many revlon lippies they just do my favorite drugtore lipsticks!

Hope you enjoyed this and I hope you guys try out these spring trends because I love all of them!

The Princess Tag

Ever since I saw Tati do this tag on YouTube I've been dying to do it but I never wanted to make a YouTube account so now since I've created a blog I've decided why not do the tag on here. So here it goes my favorite luxury beauty products!

FOUNDATION

Chanel's perfection lumiere is one of my all time favorite foundations it's the perfect coverage and perfect mix of dewy and matte!

CONCEALER

Love clinique's even better concealer for spots and it's really good for under eye discoloration!

POWDER

Hourglass ambient lighting powder in dim light is the perfect finishing powder to give your skin that extra boost! Whenever I use this I always get compliments on my skin!

BRONZER

Two faced chocolate soeil bronzer. The only high end bronzer I own and in my opinion the only one I need! Love this soo much! Can be used for contour or for a sun kissed glow and best of all it smells just like chocolate!!

BLUSH

Dior's Diorblush is so buttery and pigmented it blends like a dream! Gives that perfect flush of color however you need a light hand while using this so you don't look like a clown!

HIGHLIGHTER

Estée Lauder heat wave from the summer 2013 limited edition collection. In love with this high light! It gives such a gorgeous golden glow, perfect for summer but I use it year round! I don't know what ill do when this bad boy is gone!

PALETTE

Urban decay naked 3 palette. I didn't think I would like this but I'm in love! It's so versatile can be used for sutble daytime look or dramatic night out look. This palette changed my view on pinky rose gold eyeshadows for the best!

EYELINER

Yves Saint Laurent gel eyeliner in black bronze. Beautiful color, more of a forest green then a black bronze but beautiful non the less. Glides on so smooth for the perfect liner!

MASCARA

Benefit they're real! One of the best hands down! Totally worth the extra money and that's a lot to say when there are so many amazing drugstore options!

LIPLINER

MAC's cherry lipliner. The perfect red lip starts here, either use it all over the lip and add gloss for a glossy red lip that's going to last all night or use it as a liner and with another red lippie on top for that extra lasting power!

LIPSTICK

Yves Saint Laurent rouge volupte shine. I think half the reason I like this is because of its gorgeous packaging! I'm a sucker for beautiful packaging, now don't get me wrong these lippies are also amazing! Very shiny and don't dry out my lips!

BROWS

Okay so I kinda cheated on this one! It's not technically a brow product but it's the only thing I've ever found that I love filling in my brows with! MAC mystery is perfect for anyone with darker eyebrow hair!

OTHER

Clinique's moisture surge extended thirst relief is my all time favorite moisturizer! I have repurchased this multiple times I've lost count! I use this in the morning and it goes on fine under makeup and my combination skin stays normal throughout the day! Yay!

I tag whoever reads this to do this tag it's fun and if you don't have something from a catagrory who cares?! I didn't have anything from the high end lipgloss or nail polish catagrory!
